The ACN card is intended for couriers and drivers from freight forwarding and transport companies who regularly visit freight locations at and around Schiphol Airport. Thousands of people use their card daily to access the premises of freight handlers at and around Schiphol Airport. The ACN card ensures that every person entering a premises doesn’t have to be manually checked using identity documents such as passports and/or Dutch or European identity cards. This, of course, saves the driver a significant amount of time. The ACN card also contains company information such as KMAR-approved company status, DGVS customs regulations, etc. This can minimize administrative checks at the freight handler, saving unnecessary waiting times. Finally, the ACN card can contribute to better control of freight exchanges.
The issuance of the ACN card is subject to strict regulations. Before an ACN card is issued, company and personal data are verified. Companies must be registered with the Chamber of Commerce. ACN also checks whether companies are recognized by the Koninklijke Marechaussee. Furthermore, companies are checked for DGVS relationships with recognized freight forwarders. Every potential card holder must also have a (positive) Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG), an Air Freight Employee (MLV) certificate, and a valid identity card or passport.
In addition to the ACN card, smartLOXS issues other types of cards:
